Blood Thirsty

"Are you ready yet, Brother?  You've been taking forever!"  Kalista chided.  She tapped her foot in frustration.  She stood outside Kakaroff's room, waiting impatiently for her brother to get ready for the King's ball.  Normally, she hated dressing up, but she had always had a passion for Halloween.  She loved her vampiress costume.  It was edgy and dark, just how she liked, and of course she loved her addition of a dagger.  She had convinced Kakaroff to dress as a vampire count, but it was taking him ages to get ready, even though his costume was quite simple.  She rolled her eyes.  He'd been acting odd lately.  At least, more odd than usual.  He seemed to constantly be preoccupied with something.  He skipped out on training, much to her chagrin.  He just stayed locked up in his study, avoiding his duties. 

When the king had announced his costume gala, Kakaroff had tried making an excuse not to go, but she had pinned him down with her dagger to his throat to persuade him.  There was no way she would show up to a gala on her favorite night on her own, but all the men among the Guard, as well as the recruits, were too terrified of her to escort her, so Kakaroff was it.

Growing angry, she pounded on the door once more.  "Kakaroff!  If you don't get out here, I'll break the door down and drag your sorry carcass to the ballroom by your tongue!"

Finally, the door opened, and he stepped out, dressed, but looking thoroughly annoyed.  "I'm ready, woman!"  he snapped.  "You know, it's things like that that are the reason no one else would escort you." 

Her eyes flashing angrily, Kalista struck him in the ribs, then grinned as he doubled over, the wind knocked out of him.  She watched him gasp for breath for a moment before grabbing his arm roughly.  "Next time, I use the dagger," she growled.  Before he could catch his breath, she began pulling him toward the ballroom.

I couldn't resist making costumes for the Ice Twins.  And, I felt that vampires were perfect.  Kalista loves causing bloodshed, and after Kakaroff's recent actions, the theme fits him well.  They are dressed for King Cold's annual Halloween Gala, to which he wishes to invite Lady Lucilla.  I also couldn't resist a bit of character development for Kalista.
